Temovate Medication Uses

Temovate medication is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory medication that helps reduce itching, redness, and swelling associated with many skin conditions. Temovate cream is safe for virtually every skin type and produces very little side effects.

How Taken

Apply a thin layer of Temovate cream or Ointment to the affected skin areas twice a day. Before applying Temovate, you should wash and dry the affected areas. Gently rub Temovate sparingly onto the affected areas until it is evenly spread. Do not cover or bandage the skin area after applying the Temovate cream or ointment. Be careful to keep the medication out of your eyes. If the scalp application gets into your eyes, immediately flush your eyes with a lot of water. Follow the directions supplied by your doctor.

Warnings/Precautions

Return to your doctor if the condition does not improve or gets worse. Temovate topical alone will not treat a condition if it is an infection. Temovate topical is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known if Temovate l will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not use without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. If it is necessary to use Temovate during pregnancy, the smallest amount possible should be used and for the shortest time necessary to treat the condition, under the supervision of a doctor. It is not known if Temovate passes into breast milk. Do not use Temovate without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding.

Missed Dose

Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed Temovate dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.

Possible Side Effects

No serious systemic side effects are expected unless a large amount of Temovatel is used over a long period of time. If Temovate is being absorbed by the body, you may experience blurred vision, halos around lights, an irregular heartbeat, insomnia, mood changes, weight gain, or fatigue. If you experience any of these or any other unusual side effects, tell your doctor. Less serious side effects are more likely to occur. You may experience some redness, blistering, burning, itching, or peeling. Continue to use Temovate topical and tell your doctor about any side effects. Other local side effects may also occur, especially with prolonged use of Temovate. These can include thinning of the skin, prolonged redness, and stretch marks. Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Storage

Store Temovate at room temperature and keep away from excess heat and moisture, do not store iin the bathroom. Keep Temovate in the container it came in, tightly closed, and keep out of reach of children. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.

Overdose

When absorbed into the bloodstream over a prolonged period, Temovate can cause disorders such as Cushing's syndrome. If you suspect a Temovate overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

More Temovate Information

Do not use plastic bandages, dressings, or diapers that do not allow air to circulate to the area being treated unless your doctor tells you to do so. The use of occlusive dressings can greatly increase the amount of Temovate the body absorbs. If you do use an occlusive dressing, do not use it for more than 12 hours a day. Do not use other topical products on the treated area, unless otherwise advised by your doctor.
